Two socks and a hat

So I can’t even believe how much I’ve been able to accomplish this month so far!  I have finished two socks, they’re different patterns, and a hat!
I am currently working on both second socks to try and avoid having just one...especially since one of the socks is for my older son.  He saw and tried the first sock on and not only does it fit perfectly but he absolutely loves it.  So he's very happy when he sees me working away on the second sock.
I'm hoping to have it finished before the end of the month to enter them into the GG KAL, and fingers crossed maybe get one of their always amazing prizes.
I was hoping to cast on another project this weekend, but just found out that somehow I don't have the correct needle size 😮.  Looks like I will be waiting until I work, hopefully soon, and get paid to grab the right size.  I haven't decided if I want the 4" interchangeable Chiagoo to just go into my set or try out another type of needle in a 16".  I'm leaning toward the Chiagoo because I will probably get more use out of it if I can put any size cord on it, we'll see.
I am also working on a hat for my dad since he loved the scarf I made him for Christmas so much. And its actually been cold enough to wear it too!  Our weather has been such a roller coaster, it was almost 70 yesterday and we had sleet/ice today...I'm over it.  I absolutely never mind it being cold and having seasons, I would just prefer not to have more than one in 24 hours.
And yesterday I totally stepped outside my comfort zone in a big way and made a podcast, it's not very long and it may be the only one I'll ever do if nobody subscribes or watches.  But that's ok, since I started watching GG and my love for knitting keeps growing I have thought about doing my own podcast as a way to just talk about it.  My family always listens to me but I want to reach out and talk to other people who get just as excited as I do about different yarns and projects!  So if you feel like checking it out please do!  Meg Knits should take you to my channel.
Hope you're having a wonderful day and until next time when hopefully I'll have two pairs of finished socks!!

Epic Fail and Retail Therapy

Well I was so excited about this cardigan that I was making for my mom.  I don't know if she reads this or not but I told her about it this morning.  So I was so excited, I bought the pattern for the Campside Cardi and got some yarn from Hobby Lobby and got to work.  It was coming up so well, until the sleeves 😱.  It is now such a disaster and I'm so sad about it.  I've taken it off the needles and put it aside.  I am trying to figure out what went wrong, and yes I actually swatched.  The swatch was just a hair big, which I was ok with.  My mom and I both like wearing hoodies and such and we like it to be bigger.  So then I got to the sleeves and they're so small :( I couldn't even get it on with a tee shirt, so...that's def not going to work.
The good news is the pattern is still mine forever and I am for sure going to try it again and maybe get some nicer yarn for it.  I know it was totally a mistake on my end, it's a wonderfully written pattern!

I did do a little retail therapy to make me happy, so I went over to Knit Picks and grabbed a few of their Capretta Superwash which I'm so excited to feel.  It's a 80% Superwash fine Merino, 10% Nylon and.....10% Cashmere!!!  Cashmere is such a dream to work with, its so soft and I love it!
Two of the socks I'm currently working on have cashmere in them and its so wonderful to work with!  One is for my older son and one may actually be for me...we'll see!

I did also buy two patterns, one of which will be a surprise (just in case my mom does read this) and the other is a cabled sock pattern that may be a little complicated but looks amazing!  It's a Heidi Nick design, Margaret's Passion.  Looks amazing, and even if I don't use it right now I really want to do them!  I have been finding so many wonderful designers and yarn dyers from Grocery Girls I really need to win the lottery!

So let me know if you've bought anything fun that I should check out!  I am always needing more patterns and of course more yarn!

Joining KALs

So I still have one last Christmas project to finish up, it was giving me some fits yesterday and it got put in a small time out.  I am going to grab it out and try to work it out during nap time today.
But I’ve never been good at doing one thing at a time so I started two sets of socks 🤷🏻‍♀️.
In my Purl Together group we are doing a KAL (Knit a long) using the My Cup of Tea socks. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/Meghankelly2181/my-cup-of-tea-socks
Then I just discovered Grocery Girls on You Tube and I want to watch all the episodes!  They’re so funny and showcase some absolutely beautiful yarn and amazing patterns.  So I’ve been taking notes and adding to my ever growing Raverly wish list and queue.  They are doing a year long KAL with socks!  So socks are perfect to knit where I live since it’s pretty warm/hot most of the year.  This months sock theme is Local to You.  So you have to either use a local designer or yarn.  I just went to my yarn store earlier this month and didn’t even realize that I have a yarn that’s been locally dyed.  It is a lace weight yarn so it’s a pretty thin sock but I will be reinforcing the heel and toe, especially since they’re going to my older son who’s 9.  I don’t expect them to last long but he asked me to make some for him so I just have to do it! They’re some simple plain vanilla socks, no pattern, which makes for easy knitting during the day 🙂.

I’m using new needles for them and I’m not sure I’m totally loving them 🤔. They’re Knitters Pride Karbonz.  They’re actually very nice needles but it may be the needle/yarn combination so I will try them again with a different yarn.

If you’ve ever knit with them I’d love to hear your thoughts!

2019 😳

How is it 2019?  It’s so crazy, even crazier is that it’s now 20 years since I graduated high school...😳😳😳.
The end of 2018 was a whirlwind of Christmas celebrations and traveling.  We went to spend Christmas with my husbands moms home and then we went to his dads house after and stayed until New Years Eve.  I was somehow able to finish my projects for his side of the family, and I’m still working on my parents gifts...I’m a little behind 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Here are a few projects I was working on.  The mitten is for my oldest son and I have the second one little more than halfway done.  The red is a scarf 🧣 which turned out very nice, I loved the pattern definition on it!  I was also able to finish my husbands socks!  I opted to finish those for him since they’re wool based yarn and he’s going to be heading back to Chicago in a few weeks or so, so these will hopefully keep his feet warmer.
I also finished a hat and blanket.  The blanket was crocheted and the hat I taught myself how to do cables.  Cables were actually on my list of things to do for this year so I’ll have to find another skill to check off!

I hope y’all all had a great start to your New Years!  As for me, I’m looking forward to school starting back up just to get everyone back on our normal schedule.  We are also going to be tackling potty training this year, I’ll be working on that as soon as we’ve settled into our routine, so wish me luck!

Another year around the sun!

I had a great birthday weekend!  Had the weekend off so I was able to spend lots of time with my family.  My oldest had two games this weekend and it was so much fun to watch him play, he loves it so much.  We also celebrated my little ones birthday with my parents, sister and her kids on Sunday. He doesn’t really understand what’s happening yet so we get to celebrate when we are able to 🙂.
I got exactly what I wanted for my birthday, being with my boys...plus my needle set 😉.  It’s sooo pretty.
I can’t wait to start using them and have been working hard to try and work on my current projects to get some of them finished before I cast more on!  But I already have two projects that I will be doing using these, one a Christmas gift and the other is maybe even for me...we’ll see.

I also bought a yarn winder yesterday, just a cheaper one from Hobby Lobby.  I have some yarn on its way for my next knit a long with Purl Together and it’s a absolutely gorgeous shawl wrap that I can’t wait to start!  I’ll post some more information about that when I get the yarn and start the project!

Until next time, hope everyone is doing well!

Yay!!!

Well this weekend is my birthday and my amazing hubby got me the Chiagoo 4” needle set!!  I can’t wait to get them tomorrow.  I am super excited, and he just doesn’t get how that’s what I really wanted for my birthday.  What can I say?  I am completely addicted to the craft.  In fact I am planning a birthday trip over to my local yarn store to see what kind of goodies I can pick up!  And yes I know I have so many projects working right now, but one of my two favorite You Tube bloggers (Purl Together) is going to be starting a gorgeous shawl project November 1st.
My other favorite (Very Pink Knits) is doing a giveaway for a different shawl kit that looks unbelievably amazing!  If I were to somehow get super lucky and win one of the kits that may be the first thing I make and keep for me!

On a down note, my Astros are getting horribly robbed in the ALCS.  ☹️  There will definitely be some mourning when their season ends.  Unfortunately their bats aren’t alive, yet, and it makes me soo sad!  My nerves are about shot and anxiety is throught he roof!  But there will always be next year, I will always love my Astros!

I will be back by Monday to show pictures of my new needle set and any yummy yarn I pick up!

Go, go, go!

As I sit here having my morning caffeine, watching the Today show and listening to Curious George playing in little C’s room I think of all the things I need to get done today.  But I also realize that most of it will probably not get done.  I have already been super productive this morning by doing some grocery shopping and making breakfast.  As breakfast was being prepped I did straighten up the kitchen, so that’s good right?
The weather outside finally feels like fall, it’s absolutely beautiful, nice and cool with little to no humidity.  I feel so lucky, our area made it through this season with no hurricanes and I feel awful for all of those who were in Michaels path, I pray for safety for all who stayed and hunkered down.
We are still working hard with little C, he will be two at the end of the month and is still not talking, and since he has been tested and was found to be delayed but not enough to receive therapy for it we are still trying to get him to open up.  I know he has the vocabulary since he knows what we are telling him, he just has to figure out how to get those words to come out!  I just can’t believe that my baby is about to be 2!  He has such a happy personality with a wild streak, he’s always moving!
H has been playing call baseball and he loves it.  The first two weeks found practices and games rained out but we finally got to play two games last weekend and have another game this Saturday.  This weekend will be a rough one for me, full of no sleeping.  I am scheduled to work both Friday and Saturday night.  There’s a morning game Saturday, so I’ll be getting up after just a few hours of sleep.  Sunday is church and then my niece’s birthday party at American Girl store.  So I grabbed some energy drinks from the store this morning (I know it’s not super keto, but gotta do what I gotta do to stay awake), so wish me luck as I struggle through work this weekend 😳.

I am still doing the MyMagazineSharing missions and had one for the puppies 🐶.  In the box was a box of Milkbones and a thing of Nature’s Recipe wet dog food.  My dogs loved the Milkbones!  And since my dogs don’t do wet food, I passed that along to my parents.  They gave it to their puppies the other day and they both loved it.  My mom liked it because she said it was more like chicken than some of the  foods they’ve tried, she didn’t have to really stir much to mix it up with their dry food.  #FreeSamp#mymagazinesharing#foryourpets

Well I think the rest of the day is going to be playing with little C and working away on my Christmas gifts!  Hope y’all are having a great day, til next time!
